Delhi to Devpryag Trip Log

Trip LogsOur trip log for Delhi to Devprayag, a journey of about 288 kilometers, and riding for 7.5 hours (Our numbers are proximately as we stopped here and there to rest and eat and went a few times)

The biggest advice we got was, try to be at the Nizamuddin Bridge over the Yamuna River as early in the morning as possible. This will ensure that you avoid traffic at cities along the way, namely Modinager, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Khatauli and Roorkee.

We first arrived at Ghaziabad (Dabur Chowk), after that we encountered a T-junction, the kilometer counter stands at this point a 5.8 kilometers, and we turn right. Left goes to Sharharda. Which is also an interested destination, but that we would probably explore another time.

After another 4 or 5 kilometer riding we turn left onto the Ghaziabad bypass towards Meerut (The road is market as NH58).

After a total of 32 kilometer on our speedo we arrive at Modinagar. We continue straight through the town. One advice is to not try set a speed record and watch out for pedestrians, they seem to have only eyes for bargains and no time to track the traffic.

About 21 kilometers from Modinagar we encounter another road junction, and we continue straight.

At 62 kilometer on our kilometer indicator we stand in front of a fork in the road, we bear left for Dehradun and Haridwar. Right over the bridge goes to Meerut city; you can do a quick visit if you feel you have the time.

After another 10 kilometers we arrive at Daurala town and we continue straight through. At overall 87 kilometers we at another road junction, we continue straight on the NH58. Left goes to Budana. Not long after the road junction we arrive at Khatauli town. We stopped for a quick drink and got on our motorcycles to continue our journey to Muzaffarnagar junction – here we encounter an easily missed turn – we turn right towards Roorkee.

After about 10 kilometers after the Muzaffarnagar junction, we turn again right and keep following Roorkee. We arrive at Purkaji and ride straight through the town.

We now at the Uttar Pradesh-Uttarakhand border, and stop to take a look around as we stretch our legs. We have now little over 160 kilometers on the motorcycle behind us.

After 2 kilometers after our stop at the Uttar Pradesh-Urrarakhand border we at the Roorkee junction, we continue straight towards Haridwar. Left goes to Dehradun.

186 kilometers on the teller and there is an unexpected fork on the road. We bear right towards Haridwar. At the Haridwar roundabout, bear right towards Rishikesh. At the second roundabout we continue straight towards Rishikesh.
Somewhere here you want to think where you put your camera, as you will see a huge Shiva statue on the left.

After something like 5 kilometer after the Shiva statue we at a fork on the road, we bear right towards Rishikesh town. Left goes to the Rishikesh bypass towards Narendra Nagar and New Tehri.

At the beginning of the Rishikesh town about 1 kilometer in town you see an IOCL fuel station on the left and BPCL one on the right. Check your fuel, the Royal Enfield Bullet has excellent fuel economics if it comes to fuel consumption… But I always say better be sure then be sorry latter.

At Muni Ki Reti, Rishikesh. We travel less hen a kilometer to arrive at another fork in the road, we bard right towards Devprayag and Joshimath. Left goes to Dehradun. With Ram Jhula on the right, we continue straight past Laxman Jhula.

The road from Rishikesh to Shivapuri 20 kilometers ahead is quite broken and there are several places where there have been landslides, after the moon son season. Proceed with caution.

Shivpuri, at Camp Silver Sands, which is a good location for some rafting on the Ganga. After another 40 kilometers there is another gasoline station, here you can check the tyre pressure, refresh yourself or stretch your legs. About 1 kilometer after the gasoline station you will encounter a T-junction with a right hairpin. Take the hairpin to head towards Devprayag. Straight goes to Devprayag market 1 kilometer ahead.

We cross the Ganga River and head to Ramkund Resorts; they are located on Pauri Road.meta:key motorcycle, touring,Delhi,Devprayag,Nizamuddin Bridge,Yamuna River, biking, road, cruiser, Modinager,Meerut,Muzaffarnagar,Khatauli,Roorkee,Enfield,Royal, good, trip, sightseeing, tour]
